Someone Planted An Idea About Me

and I bucked against the shaping of it

rolled up my sleeves, removed my earrings

when the white teacher called us animals

dirt under nails and foot 

I watch them watch me, better watch out

cuz I’m comin’

I watched Roots & dug holes

some seeds planted, not gonna let them

germinate propagate contaminate
