McDonald’s Money

Gyasi L. Asim

“We got nothing to eat?”
“I just bought groceries the other day.”
“You don’t need to be eating none of that anyway.”
“You better learn to appreciate what you got already.”

“I just bought groceries the other day.”
“You got some McDonald’s money?”
“You better learn to appreciate what you got already,
and we got plenty of that at home.”

You got some McDonald’s money?
I got nothing,
and we got plenty of that at home–
a whole lot of nothing.

I got nothing,
and I’m feeling like
a whole lot of nothing.
But man, I’m hungry.

And I’m feeling like
I don’t need to be eating none of that anyway.
But man, I’m hungry,
and we got nothing to eat.
