There are places where papers are kept
sheets layered as tall as mountains
they are kept under lock and key
so only
intelligent
worthy
important
men
can read the promises
the government makes to its people.
It has been decreed
modernity has decided
it has no use for buildings
it is too costly to pay the people
to run the offices
to allow the people to read the laws
to shred the documents.
The bonfire will be built in the encampments
so it may burn the unhoused.
