Calling all kiddos aspiring to become writers or pursue the arts when they grow up!

Lucky Jefferson‘s way of creating empowering spaces and opportunities for children and pre-teens ages 9-13 to explore and deepen their joy of writing and grow as young artists.

Read stories from Little Jefferson here.

When submitting:

• Send no more than three poems or one story in a submission. Separate poems by titles or page breaks.
• Artwork should be submitted as a JPG or PNG file.
• Include a brief cover page highlighting the young poet’s name, email address (if applicable), mailing address, and bio (third-person, 50 words max). Have fun with this and tell us something we’d never know!
• Sorry, no translations or work that has been previously published in print or online.

Parents/Guardians/Teachers/Youth Organizations are allowed to submit on a child/student’s behalf.

If you are a teacher or program interested in partnering with Lucky Jefferson to publish the work of young writers, please email us.

Upon acceptance, submissions will be included on our website.

To keep things fair, poets accepted into Little Jefferson may only submit once each calendar year.

If your child/student’s work does not find a home at Lucky Jefferson, we ask that you wait 3 months before submitting new work. Spam submissions will not be tolerated.
