The dirt was so loud
and the sunset put pink onto the coyote
brush. I could hear the shuffle
of a spotted towhee,
the delicate wandering
of a bunny in the brambles
They walked beside
me, their steps in line with mine
making shadows of themselves
to my heavy gate and pauses.
I wonder what it was
they dreamt-up in each other.
